The Women of Achievement Awards were established to recognize women of exceptional achievement in various fields whose personal and professional lives have served as an inspiration. Women’s Project selected the unique award design "Aspire", designed by MK Shannon, for these prestigious awards.
The 2012 recipients of these distinctive awards were Thia Breen, President of North America Estee Lauder Companies, and the recipient of a CEW Achiever Award, presented to a leader in beauty; Liz Duffy Adams, noted author and playwright, and the recipient of the Lillian Hellman Award for playwriting and the Will Glickman Award for Best New Play; Barbara Goldsmith, renowned author and historian, and the recipient of numerous recognition awards, including an appointment to the President’s Commission for the Celebration of Women in American History, a Lifetime Achievement Award in Literary Arts for the Guild Hall Academy of the Arts, the Poets and Writers “Writers for Writers” award, the American Publishers Association Literary Award, designation as a “Living Landmark” by the New York Landmark Conservancy, the Order of Merit by the Republic of Poland, and election to the Academy of Arts and Sciences; and Cornelia Guest, well known author, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, and the designee by Donna Karan as one of the “Women Who Inspire”. The Women of Achievement awards ceremony was held March 5, 2012, at the Copacabana in New York City. This is the third straight year Bennett recognition trophies have been used for these awards. Past recipients include Laurie Anderson, Joan Osborne, Susan Vega, Babe Neuwirth, Bonnie Pfeifer Evans, and Mindy Grossman. Women’s Project is the nation’s oldest and largest company dedicated to producing and promoting theater created by women.
