Custom Award Designed for World Tandem Surfing Competition

Bennett Awards designed and produced a new custom awards design for a tandem surfing world competition. The competition was the National Kidney Foundation 6 Star World Tandem Tour Event, held September 6-7, 2009, in Cocoa Beach, Florida. The custom award, called the Richard Salick Tandem Surfing Aloha Spirit Award, was created to honor the tandem couple that demonstrates the most “aloha spirit” throughout the competition.

This custom award will be a 10 year perpetual award that will be presented each year at the National Kidney Foundation Tandem Surfing Competition. The custom awards design was created by Bennett Awards artist Tom Bennett, and features a realistic interpretation of a tandem surfing couple. This unique award was produced in bronze, and mounted on a black marble base with the name of the award and name of the sponsor. The custom awards design was developed in conjunction with Dr. Lance Maki, the event’s main organizer. Dr. Maki, along with Jaci Remrey, was also the first recipient of this unique award.
