Leblon/USBG "Golden Muddler" Custom Awards

Bennett Awards designed and produced custom awards for the USBG (United States Bartender’s Guild) Caipirinha Competition. This competition, held July 10, 2009, at Pat O’Brien’s on the River in New Orleans, was developed to recognize the mixologist with the top Caipirinha cocktail, which is the national cocktail of Brazil. 18 bartenders from 9 cities were chosen to represent their USBG chapter in the competition. The competition was sponsored by the USBG and Leblon Cachaca. A sold-out crowd of 450, along with a panel of distinguished judges, gathered for the event. Unique custom awards designed by Bennett Awards were presented to three winners – two judge’s choice winners, and one people’s choice winner.

Bennett Awards worked closely with Leblon to design these custom awards, which are called “The Golden Muddler Awards”. These unique awards were designed in the shape of a “muddler”, which is a bartender’s tool that is used like a pestle to mash (or “muddle”) fruits, herbs and/or spices in the bottom of a glass to release their flavor. These custom awards were produced in pewter, then gold plated. They were then mounted on a white marble base engraved with the name and date of the award.
